We are in very different times. On the one hand we see a range of significant challenges for our nations, but these are also times of significant blessing as we see more people praying, more people seeking spiritual answers and a growing passion to know Jesus more.
For many years I have been working with young adults across the UK in my work called Prayer Storm and with colleagues across the movement for prayer and mission. We all recognise that 2016 will not be an ordinary year; we are not in normal times. Our constant challenge in these times is to hear what God is saying to us.
We sense the Lord calling His church to a season of fasting and prayer. In particular we have felt for some time that we should have 40 days of prayer and fasting in Lent as we lead up to Easter. I - and many others - believe we are approaching a time of great harvest, a great change in the spiritual climate of our nations. This is why Luke 10:2 – Jesus prayer for labourers has become a focal point for this call to fasting and prayer. Imagine multiple Church Communities committing to fast and pray over the lent season with a united sense of purpose. This could be part of how God wants to move in our Cities and Nations.
